A Goal Setting Exercise

 
 
 
Have you ever really gotten clear on Your Goals. Try this “Goal Brainstorming” idea that the late great Jim Rohn shared with all of us in his book ‘Seven Strategies for Wealth and Happiness’.
 
Setting goals is the foundation which everything else you do rely to be effective – so this needs to be done properly.
 
Get very clear of your ‘Why’
 
“What do you want within the next 1-10 years?”
 
For 15 minutes (and only take 15), write down at least 50 items that you want spread across the following questions. (Generic terms, ie, new car, nice house, holiday house, vacation, investment etc)
 
1.       What do you want to do
2.       What do you want to be?
3.       What do you want to see?
4.       What do you want to have?
5.       Where do you want to go?
6.       What would you like to share?
 
Now pick the number of years you think it will take to achieve each item, 1, 3, 5, or 10 years.
Make sure there is a balance of items in each year.
Choose the most important 4 from each year. So in total you should have 16 of things you desire, 4 x 1 year, 4 x 3 years etc
Then write a detailed description of each item ie, my new car is a Black Mercedes Benz cls 550 with leather beige interior, electrical windows etc
Now write “Why” you want each of these items. If you are unable to find a strong “Why” choose another item from that category and start again.
 
What is a really good idea is to go and see your item you have chosen (if you physically can). Really look at it, touch it, drive it, or research it etc. Have emotion attached and really know how excited you would feel to have what you desire in your possession right now!
 
Incorporate these goals into your daily visualization – it may only be 2-3 to begin with. Getting clear on your Goals and especially your “WHY” will ensure you are getting what you want
